Final cookie count

On Cookie Baking Day 2009, we baked 1,660 cookies:
131 Crescents
84 Raspberry Logs
92 Sugar Cookies
120 Cream Wafers
125 Molasses Crinkles
139 Macaroons
122 Mint Chocolate Krinkles
11 Cream Cheese Plum Pockets
110 Peanut Butter Blossoms
239 Thumbprints
130 Snowballs
125 Refrigerator Cookies
140 Snickerdoodles

Why doesn't the total count match up with the sum of the individual counts? Because we maintain two counts. The first count is number of cookies placed on the cookie table. Some of these cookies disappear (they get eaten) before the second count, which is the number of each type of cookie.

Happy Cookie Baking Day!!!

Behind the scenes: model cookies

Perhaps you've noticed that Cookie Baking Day cookies are remarkably consistent in size and shape. How do our Cookie Makers do this? They use model cookies. Here is a model Cresent:

In this photo, one of our Cookie Makers checks her Peanut Butter Blossom against the model Peanut Butter Blossom. Notice how similar the two cookies look.

1000 cookies!

According to Ashley, our Assistant Cookie Counter, as of 3:19 we've baked 1,000 cookies.

The 1,000th cookie is a Thumb Print.
